Fall Induction Weekend
Registration Now Open!

Our next lodge event is rapidly approaching! Join us September 15-17 at Pine Hill Scout Reservation for our lastinduction event of the year. This is the opportunity for new Ordeal induction as well as a chance to seal your bonds in Brotherhood and become a Brotherhood member of the lodge. If you have been an Ordeal member for at least 10 months, have the opportunity to increase your knowledge of the Order.

With any Ordeal induction, the lodge will be executing one of it’s core principles – service. We will be working to complete meaningful service projects to camp and your help is greatly appreciated. But after our daily work is complete, there will be plenty of food, fun, and fellowship to be had by all.

Lodge weekends also provide the opportunity to make new friends, build your network, and learn new skills that will last a lifetime.

Lenape Lodge 8 has recieved our allocation for the 2018 NOAC and we are sending 17 youth and 5 adults to INDIANA UNIVERSITY, BLOOMINGTON, IN on JULY 30 – AUGUST 4, 2018
NOAC is a national gathering of around 10,000 – 15,000 Arrowmen from nearly every Lodge in the Nation. Once every few years, we get together for six days of fun, adventure, and learning. If you choose to go, you will find a large selection of activities ranging from Native American dancing and regalia to scuba and snorkeling.

The best thing is YOU get to choose what you want to do and when you do it. At the last NOAC the list of possibilities was huge including hundreds of activities. While at NOAC you and your roommate will stay in the University dorm rooms, sleeping on real beds with the University providing the linens and using indoor restrooms and showers. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be served in the University Cafeterias where they do the cooking and the cleaning – all you must do is return your tray.

The conference fee will be announced by the National Order of the Arrow Committee later this year, but expect that the total cost of the trip will be around $850 (still pending until the official conference fee is announced later this summer).

Spots are LIMITED!  You will be put on a wait list if the contingent is full.
YOUTH – “first come, first serve” (once we receive your $100 deposit)
ADULTS – spots are extremely limited, details on an approval process will be communicated.  Please register and pay deposit ASAP in order to be considered in the approval process.

The word Elangomat is translated as “friend” from the Lenni Lenape. Thus, an Elangomat serves as a friend to the Ordeal Candidates.

When it is time to welcome new candidates into our Order at a Conclave/Ordeal Weekend. As you all know, to make this happen we need Elangomats.

We were all candidates once, and we went through the Ordeal led by some person we probably just met called an Elangomat. He tested the bow with us and worked along side us throughout the weekend.

As many of you may recall, Elangomats were the friends who led us through the various tests of the Ordeal, and served our lodge and the Ordeal with a great spirit and desire to insure that all candidates found the true meaning of the Order.

It was Elangomats that showed all of us the path through the Ordeal and onward to Brotherhood.

Many who have served in this role have commented that it brought time to reflect on their own Ordeal weekend, no matter how long ago that was, and many stated that it only intensified their respect for the Order and strengthened their bond in Brotherhood.

Now it is your time to return the favor, and maybe even strengthen your bond in the Lodge by becoming an Elangomat.

Every member is encouraged to be an Elangomat at least once before they become a Brotherhood member. This experience gives one the opportunity to more completely understand the meaning of the Ordeal and its intentions.
